Goa in the monsoons

30 Apr

Ever visited any beach destination completely off season and that too during peak rains? Well I have. We had once visited Goa in July (which is the peak monsoon season in the western parts of India). While this is not the actual touristy season, I felt Goa had another side to offer during the monsoons, which was as much and more fun.

During this season all major beach activity is shut as it’s not safe to enter the waters, the shacks are pretty much closed and the party places are empty. But during this season you can actually see the wild side of nature in Goa – with strong winds, mad rock crashing waves, crazily waving palm leaves and beautiful greenery all around.

Below are a few pictures that give you a flavor of Goa for a cheaper off-season resort visit during the months of June – September.

That’s Goa for me…. beautiful and green

Tips for the Trip –

  1. Monsoon season is an off-season for Goa and you can negotiate fabulous deals with practically everyone, hotels, cars, etc. You can even book 5 star resorts at amazing discounts.
  2. My suggestion is book a resort during this time as you can do a lot of sightseeing whenever it’s not raining and enjoy at the resort when it’s raining.
  3. Finally, there is no better way to enjoy the monsoons then a quick drench in the rain followed by a mug of hot coffee and pakoras (fried vegetables in a batter)

You are right, monsoons bring the nature out of any commercialized place. And of course, the sweet off-season deals 🙂
