Swensen’s Ice Cream

14 Nov

Ice cream is my major weakness and I just can’t resist it whenever I travel. There is just some kind of an in built mechanism in me that just has to try coffee and ice creams in all new places that I travel to. So when we were going to Bangkok, my friend who had recently returned from there asked us to try the Swensen’s ice cream.

Swensen’s is actually an American ice cream chain that started in Thailand about 24 years ago and this has been a major success here.

I believe this chain is such a success here because of –

– The easy access – It is available everywhere i.e. all malls, shopping places, basically everywhere. So whenever you are in a mood to eat something this is always close by.

– The price – It is extremely reasonably priced for the size of the ice creams and sundaes. So always a plus for a budget traveler. πŸ™‚

– The variety – They have an amazing variety here and the taste is very good. We nearly tried all flavors and loved every one of them. If you try this place then do try a Happy Birthday Ice cream. Its super fun and I have never seen this anywhere else.

– The weather – The weather in Thailand is super hot Β so you can always have a ready excuse to try another flavor of this ice cream. πŸ˜‰

You brought back a lot of fond memories for us…It was our neighborhood ice cream shop in Washington DC and we loved running into it in Thailand. Thanks for sharing:)

Hi. Swensens are quite common in Malaysia, but quite expensive compared to other places. The cheapest icecream is MYR15 – about THB150, I suppose. How are prices in Thailand actually? – You’ve said they are reasonable.

Hi, in Thailand we paid about THB 100 for the biggest sundae. The portions are huge and quite filling so they also became a meal for us.

I had no idea there were Swensens in Asia! My favorite place for ice cream in San Francisco. πŸ™‚ That happy birthday sundae looks pretty happy, indeed! Yum…
