It’s Germany Calling

24 Apr

2016 has been a busy year so far with several important work and personal commitments. On the personal front, I moved into my own new house and am looking forward to decorating it with all my travel memorabilia and books. This obviously has resulted in my staying in Mumbai and I have not been able to explore new places which was making me quite restlessness. But finally it’s time to pack my backpack, wear my walking shoes and hit the road again!! Yay!!  🙂

My destination this time? Oh, it’s my love for Europe that is taking me to Germany and this time on an invitation from German National Tourism as a ‘travel blogger’. I will be visiting the beautiful cities of Cologne, Frankfurt and Heidelberg with German National Tourism and then extending my trip, on my own, to visit a small part of the Black Forest region. I am really excited about this trip as it’s the first of many for me – it’s my first long solo trip, it’s my first trip to this part of Germany (earlier I have only transited through the Frankfurt and Cologne airports) and my first unstructured and unplanned trip. People who know me know how difficult traveling without months of research is for me, but I have decided to try this new route – travelling each day as a new adventure and let the road decide where I should go.

My itinerary is also very interesting with various flavors of culture, history, art, nature and creativity. Apart from walking around and exploring the hidden nooks and corners of these cities and towns, I am going to visit a Chocolate Museum, a Perfume Museum, see an award-winning play at the English Theatre, a giant Wine Barrel , an interactive and media art museum, a porcelain palace, experience the ancient life of the Black Forest in an open air museum, walk along the Bachle (small canals), and many many more such interesting things and sights. I am also going to look for vegetarian and vegan food in traditional German cuisine and try the local deserts.

I am super super excited and looking forward to exploring this new part of Germany and will be sharing my experiences and daily picture postcards on my Facebook, twitter (@traveler_budget) and instagram pages. Do follow me on this journey via any of these mediums and if you have been to any of these places or have any suggestions / recommendations, then do share the same below or via twitter at traveler_budget.

It’s me now signing-off and getting ready to Get Set and Go 🙂
