China… A country we keep hearing a lot about for a variety of reasons but somehow never from a tourism perspective. At least I wasn’t someone who’s top 10 travel destinations included it. Yet I recently planned a trip to meet my brother and his family there and from there on explore a small part of the interiors of this huge country. Planning this trip was a huge challenge, with limited information, language hassles, etc and I still don’t know what I expected from it before I left for my trip… But I certainly did not expect a modern country with amazing infrastructure, some really nice people and the sheer variety in terms of things to see and do for a tourist. I will also write a detailed post on how so many basic things (that we take for granted here) are done very differently there. But for today, really want to share its biggest surprise for me – the diverse and stunning landscapes…
Stories to follow soon 🙂

Really interesting to see these ‘clean’ landscape images of China – I’m especially taken with the limestone terraces. We spent 10 days there in September (despite China not being on my must-do travel list) but limited our time to more urban environments. Still, we really enjoyed it and would be keen to return again – and spend more time out of the cities.

Just got back from China and agree with you about the struggles and the beauty. The country and people surprised me in so many ways. It’s certainly not set up to make travel and tourism easy but it was a trip a lifetime! Thanks for bringing back memories with these beautiful shots.

We did Beijing, Pingyao, Xi’an and Shanghai. And I loved every moment. Shanghai reminded me a lot of Toronto, my home town here in Canada. It was like coming home before coming home 🙂

I missed Xi’an in my trip but hope to do it sometime soon…Shanghai skyline resembles Toronto a lot esp with the Pearl Tower 🙂
