There are 3 main temples in Siem Reap – Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the Ta Phrom and these temples are a must in the travel itinerary for anyone visiting this place. However there are some other “non-touristy” temples as well that are beautiful and so worth a visit.
For our second day in Siem Reap we had decided to visit the Ta Phrom temple and some of these other non-touristy temples i.e. Banteay Kdei, Sra Srong, Ta Keo, Thommanon and Chau Say Tevado, Preah Khan, Kravan, Neak Pean, Krol Ko, Ta Som, East Mebon and Pre Rup Temples. I know they seem like quite a few, but only some survive in good conditions while the majority are in ruins.
Below are the pics of these beautiful temples –
The Ta Phrom is seriously a sight to behold. The trees have entwined with the temples in such a manner that now you just cant figure as to who is supporting whom. In some places the trees are even growing at the top of the temples. They are gorgeous.
We had planned to walk up to Phnom Bakheng Hill for a view of the spectacular sunset over these sandstone monuments, but couldn’t as it was raining. Well something for the next visit.
We then finished our day with loads of shopping and an awesome massage.
Loved being at these incredible wats. It was nice seeing the face peering from the tree bark. I enjoyed photographing that scene. Great shots.
